Explorers

Story starter!

Swish…Once again the blade of his oar sliced through the azure waters, perfectly in rhythm with his partner’s strokes.

So, the rumour had been proven true – there was new life on the islands of the mysterious Southern Hemisphere.

It was time; time to prepare for another invasion; time to seek out new lands; time to conquer. But first, they needed to navigate the boat to the safety of the open ocean…

Question time

What period of time has the artist tried to recreate?

Where in the world are they?

What makes you think that?

What emotions can you see on the oarsmen’s faces?

Why is there a baby in the back?

Who are the men and where are they going?

Why is the woman looking back to the shore?

    Story starter!

Swish…Once again the blade of his oar sliced through the azure waters, perfectly in rhythm with his partner’s strokes.

So, the rumour had been proven true – there was new life on the islands of the mysterious Southern Hemisphere.

It was time; time to prepare for another invasion; time to seek out new lands; time to conquer. But first, they needed to navigate the boat to the safety of the open ocean. So their oars were swaying side to side as fast as possible to avoid the risk of crashing.

Each move was as careful as the one before it to ensure the stablization of the boat. Getting one second incorrect could mean death for each of the men on the boat as it was extremely unstable.

They began to drift off their original route, still trying to get back to their aim. But, they were drifting south unlike their plan to sail west.

They began to worry if they would ever return to their planned route until they began to see land in front of them. Suddenly, the oars were being slammed onto the sea and water was being pushed back so fast that a blue whale wouldn’t have been able to keep up.

The boat had stopped moving. Land was seen below the head of the boat. They had reached their destination.

  11. They were splashing threw the water and almost got wet.Behind them were some dark colours on lots of trees. Two people were holding oars to row the boat. Because if they didn’t have oars the boat would not move and they would just stay in the ocean and there were a mum and a baby in the boat. Next to the lake were some colourful stones. And it was nearly night time they started to feel tierd they couldn’t row any longer they just can’t stop for a nap in the middle of the ocean what about if some other boats come they will not move they will have to wait until. They can move again.

  16. Swish! Splash! Again the world famous explorer’s crooked oar splashed into the aqua marine waters and the battered canoe slowly swayed through the howling wind. With his partner in exact rhythm, the crew cautiously edged away from the shore: ” We are not strong enough to fight alone. We must warn the fleet and battle together,” the leader announced anxiously. But was it too late…

After barely seconds of that thought, three gargantuan emeny ships came charging towards them. Surely they could never survive this! To there surprise just before they started to attack, a strange portal appeared and although it could be dangerous it was their only hope. Dashing for their saviour, they(by a milimitere)missed a slicing arrow. They weren’t in Viking times anymore, they were in 2015! They decided to live here for ever as their chance of survival was better.
